There are so many great games on the market for the x-box it is very difficult for players to really confirm the best games as it really comes down to personal choice.  The most popular multiplayer games for the x-box can range from Halo 2, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series and Call of Duty 3.

Halo 2 is arguably one of the most popular multiplayer games, it is reported that up to October 2006, 4 billion people worldwide had played Halo 2 which is a true testament as to how great the game is.  The game is set at the end of Halo: Combat Evolved and is an all action shooting game that is directed by the story.  Although the game features truly great action scenes, the game is also complemented by its use of the storyline.  Players that are familiar with Halo will already know that the Covenant is to be feared and as the first scenes are set in a medal ceremony, the covenant begin to attack Earth.  The game contains many vehicles and if players are familiar with the first Halo, they will recognize the vehicles and be pleased to know that there are various new additions to this category.  The new game also features over 14 various human and alien weapons.  The weapons enable the player to perform various tasks and each different weapon comes with a different functionality.  This forces the player to consider the weapon of choice seriously as there are several advantages and disadvantages to alien and human weapons.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series of stealth games have proved to be extremely popular and the latest title in the series of Double Agent is set at the end of the previous Chaos Theory game.  With the multiplayer version, players must choose which side to be on, they can choose from The Spies of Third Echelon or the Mercenaries of Upsilon Force.  Each chosen side will have an impact on the mission and equipment available to the players.  When considering the sides its worth noting that the Third Echelon have greater agility and are much faster than the Mercenaries team.  When players have chosen their team, they are then able to participate in 6 different games; Team Hack, Deathmatch, Team Deatmatch, Key Run, Sam Vs All and Countdown.  There are also 14 Co-operative missions that are directly tied to the story, 4 of these are located in Iceland, 5 missions are based in Ellsworth Penitentiary and the remaining 4 missions are set in Kinshasa.

Call of Duty 3 is the latest version in the Call of Duty series; this particular game is a shooting game and features many multiplayer functions and can allow up to 24 players per match.  When playing the game as part of a team, the teams are made up of the Allied Nations versus the Axis team.  Players can choose to play in either a player or ranked match and there are differences between the two types of matches.  Player’s matches allow the game hose to choose the mode and map whilst the ranked matches mean that the mode and map are selected at random.  Ranked matches mean that the in-game leaderboards will be updated with the contribution from each ranked match while player matches do not have any impact on the leaderboard.  In the multiplayer functions, players are able to choose from 7 classes of soldier and this class will be relevant to the characters weapons and ability.  Each 7 classes have varying degrees of weapons available to them and depending on the chosen side they will be able to utilize various weapons in different ways.
